Did you know that owning a dog can increase you cost of insuring your home. In fact certain breeds of dog will keep you from being able to insure your home. If you already have a dog here are ways to keep your dog from becoming a liability.
1. Proper training, make sure your dog is obedient. Make sure they know come, sit, stay and heel commands. If they do not know these commands find a local trainer and class for your dog to learn these valuable skills. Also you may want to take your dog through a Canine Good Citizenship training class http://www.akc.org/dog-owners/training/canine-good-citizen/. Completing this class gets you and your dog an award and shows that your dog is socialized and obedient.
2. Have a yard that is fenced with limited access and a locked gate.
3. Never walk with your dog off leach.
Remember owning a dog can be a pleasurable life long part of your family or a liability that will cost you dearly.
