When money gets tight everyone looks for ways to cut the cost of insurance. Here are some ways to cut the cost of insurance without sacrificing coverage.
Raise your deductibles
By raising your deductibles from $500 to$1,000 on your automobile insurance and from 1% to 2% on your homeowners insurance you can save as much as 25%.
Get multiple policies
With an independent insurance agent you can get the lowest premium homeowners, automobile, windstorm and other types of insurance and still receive savings for multiple polices from 5% to 15%.
Make some home improvements
You can lower your insurance by getting a new roof, updating your electrical, heating, plumbing or adding an alarm system.
Keep your credit score up
Almost all insurance carriers use insurance scores, largely base on credit history. "So it is safe to say those with the best credit scores will receive the best insurance rating and the best insurance rates."
Shop your insurance policy
If you are using an agency that only offers insurance from one carrier, maybe it is time to look towards an independent agent that has access to many carriers.
